Little White Lies, Synopsis:
Successful, Black attorney, VANESSA MAXWELL, comes from a legacy steeped in the Civil Rights Movement. Because of a lawyer-father, who worked in Martin Luther King’s camp, Vanessa has chartered a course for her life that only makes room for her career and the dispensing of justice. Her world changes when the stranger, ELIOTT JAMES - a charming, White, rancher-philanthropist makes known his intention to court her. Vanessa, flattered and intrigued, begins to listen to a silenced debate: her heart argues its case for love, and when Eliott raises the stakes asking her to take a risk and marry him, she is ready and does so at the expense of all else. Still in honeymoon-mode, Vanessa returns to work and the FBI who have come to town with an un believable story. They believe that Eliott is the leader of a dangerous, white-supremacist group and that this group has plans to assassinate the President on a near-future trip. Everything in Vanessa’s life points to hard facts, so she confronts Eliott. Devastated, he denies the accusation and informs her that his Grandfather was involved with the Klan during the Civil Rights Movement making him an easy target. She wants to trust him but wants the truth more and digs into his computer files. She eventually unlocks one that provides detrimental dates and times for the President’s trip in cold, living color. When Vanessa goes to the one man she has always trusted - her father - she is further disappointed learning that he and Eliott’s Grandfather had a long history of battles, one - steeped in secrecy - that almost cost her father his life. As the President’s arrival and possible assassination attempt looms, Vanessa determines to help the FBI and put her heart back in its closet for good. As Eliott’s plan and the FBI’s defense unfolds, Vanessa is able to confront Eliott one last time. With nothing left for him to hide, Eliott confesses to the lies that bind their families together, as well as, to the one, true element that has defeated his plans: his own inability to fight the love they now share.
